Groth Cabernet Sauvignon 2012The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon is big and lush with huge gobs of fruit in the aroma and flavor. The texture of the wine is soft and supple, typical of Cabernet Sauvignons grown in our area of the Oakville AVA. The sweet vanilla character derived from 22 months in the barrels blends well with the black cherry and blackberry flavors and aromas of the wine.
Cakebread Cabernet Sauvignon 2014Dense, concentrated aromas of ripe boysenberry, blackberry, dark plum and cassis, with a hint of spice, preface intense, deeply concentrated, blackberry, blackcurrant and dark cherry flavors, culminating in a long finish shot through with a blackberry fruitiness. With a superb balance of rich fruit, bright acidity and polished tannins, this youthful cabernet sauvignon merits another 7-10 years of bottle aging, although no one who opens it sooner will be disappointed.
Bodegas Muga Rioja Reserva Selección Especial 2011This is one of those vintages which is great to drink from the start without detracting in the least its potential for laying down for the future. These wines amaze you with their great flavour from the first sip, the seemingly precocious integration of the tannins, the freshness of their "Atlantic" features interwoven with the more mature "Mediterranean" character. If we look for the words to describe the wine we can come up with ripe fruit, without reaching the dried fruit stage, mainly small red berries and plums, followed by balsamic notes, especially mint and liquorice, and then, right at the end, hints of spices in the pepper, clove and vanilla range gently coming through. In retro-olfaction spices like tobacco and vanilla make a strong impression. Then, very subtle milky nuances evolve, followed by noble leather. All perfectly integrated in glorious harmony. A very pleasant mouth-feel with the sweetness of fine lees, pastries and soft, noble tannin.
Round Pond Kith & Kin Cabernet Sauvignon 2016This crowd-pleaser intrigues the senses with aromatics of vanilla, ripe black cherry, and cassis, layered with earthier notes of cedar and violet. This wine maintains its focus with nicely integrated tannins that deliver explosive flavors of blackberry jam and dried cranberries, mingled with pleasing undertones of leather and sweet French oak. The harmonious finish lingers with a kiss of floral essence balanced with an exciting menagerie of dried savory spices.
Rombauer Chardonnay 2017Enticing aromas of vanilla, peach and mango are layered with apricots, creme brulee, butter and a slight minerality. Those scents are echoed as flavors on the creamy, rich palate, along with peach, pie crust and baking spices. The long, smooth finish is marked by mouthwatering acidity.
