Niner Bootjack Ranch Syrah 2007
|Region||California, Central Coast, Paso Robles|
This complex wine shows black fruit, berries, plum, slate, wet stone, and a smoky oak character in the nose. It has floral notes in the mouth, with good acidity. Flavors include raspberry, meat drippings, bacon fat and tar. There is a rustic hickory pit barbecue essence to this wine, and it has big tannins with a finish of fresh wood shavings. Both cool climate (black pepper) and warm climate (spearmint) attributes are nicely represented.
Defines a certain style of Paso Robles red wine, soft in structure, with easy, gentle tannins and ripe, pronounced fruit that’s almost candied in sweetness. But in this case, the blackberry and cherry flavors are totally dry.
