Château Siran Margaux 2009

SKU 2129811071

Fine, Floral red fruit nose, very expressive. Blueberry and liquorices aromas follow to a full body. Very silky tannins and long finish. A great Siran in a great vintage in the Medoc. Sadly the hail of May 11, 2009 destroyed more than half of the production. To be enjoyed after 5 years on the fruit or in 15 years as an age wine.

Wine AdvocatePotentially the best Siran I have ever tasted and another unqualified sleeper of the vintage, this dense purple wine displays notes of scorched embers, vanillin, black currants, spring flowers and graphite. Medium to full-bodied, with stunning concentration, purity, texture and length, the 2009 Siran has plenty of tannin lurking beneath its luxurious fruit. Give it 2-3 years of cellaring and drink it over the following 20+ years.

Wine SpectatorForward and fleshy, with a plush feel to the crushed fig, plum and steeped currant fruit, inlaid with anise, mulled spice and incense. Shows solid length, with lots of cocoa lingering on the finish. Drink now through 2020. 4,000 cases made.

Wine EnthusiastOn the lean side, with a layered concentrated wood structure. The wine has weight along with dryness, although the fruit is harder to discern.
