Robert Mondavi Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon 2016
|Region||California, Napa Valley, Oakville|
The medium-bodied, more elegant 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville (85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Petit Verdot, and the rest Merlot and Cabernet Franc) reveals a nuanced bouquet of black raspberries, red cassis, graphite, violets, and toasted spices. It's not a blockbuster, but it has a terrific sense of elegance and purity as well as balance.
The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville is dense and voluptuous on the palate, with notable textural richness in all of its dimensions. Black cherry, bittersweet chocolate, leather and menthol fill out the wine's ample frame effortlessly.
This delivers a grippy beam of red and black currant fruit, inlaid with warm earth, tobacco and smoldering charcoal notes. Reveals lots of savory detail on the finish. Features a slightly rustic character, but maintains ample depth and cut. For fans of the Bordeaux style. Best from 2021 through 2026. 20,445 cases made.
Blended with 9% Malbec, 7% Petit Verdot and 4% Merlot, this wine is juicy, thick and meaty, with bold flavors of black currant, black pepper and tobacco. A leathery texture contributes additional savory complexity around densely packed tannin.
