Marchesi di Barolo Barolo Cannubi 2010
|Region||Italy, Piedmont, Barolo|
|Brand||Marchesi di Barolo|
Garnet-red in color with ruby reflections. Intense perfume with clean scent of roses, vanilla, licorice, spices and toasted oak. Gentle notes of absinth. The flavor is full and elegant, good-bodied and austere with recurring olfactory sensations. The spicy note and the hints of wood blend perfectly. Food Matches: The wine is the perfect accompaniment to the traditional pasta of the Langhe, the dishes of red meats, stews, braised meats and game. Cheese of sheep's milk and goat's milk and aged cheeses.
Leather, licorice and tar notes accent the core of cherry in this sinewy red. There's plenty of fruit to balance the structure, though this finishes on the chewy side for now. Fine length. Best from 2018 through 2030. 700 cases imported.
An inviting fragrance recalls rose, violet, berries and a whiff of leather. The understated palate offers up sour cherry accented with subtle oak, toast, espresso, vanilla and baking spices alongside drying tannins. Drink 2018-2025.
