Escudo Rojo Reserva Carmenere 2019
The 2019 Carménère Escudo Rojo from Colchagua is harvested in May and aged for 10 months in 20% new oak. The ripe, compact nose features aromas of green and white pepper over a layer of blackberry jam. Indulgent, voluminous and mild in the mouth.
Aromas of green herbs, black fruits and graphite are oaky and pyrazinic. On the palate, this hot-year Carmenère is tightened by tartaric acidity. Salty plum and berry flavors are oaky, spicy and a bit green, while this doesn't change much on a lasting finish.
