From the largest and most famous of the Beaune Premier Crus, this wine is classically soft and generous. Of course it has tannins although these are already beautifully cushioned by the ripe red-cherry and blackberry fruits. With spice and smokiness from the wood aging, this is a complete, delicious wine. Drink from 2022.

Bright medium red. Lively aromas of black cherry, licorice, menthol and black pepper. Juicy, firm and penetrating, with cherry, licorice and mint flavors coming across as a bit youthfully clenched but not hard. Boasts good definition and energy but still quite youthfully unevolved, not to mention uncompromisingly dry. Savory soil tones add interest and firm tannins and salty mineral notes give lift to the lingering finish. A very good showing, but this wine needs time.
