From the Pez plateau west of the village of Saint-Estèphe, this wine is dense and structured. Against this, the black fruits and perfumed acidity give the wine plenty of promise. Drink from 2026.

Blackcurrants, cassis, pine needles and oyster shells on the nose. Medium-bodied with firm, fine tannins. Linear and silky. Cabernet sauvignon, merlot and cabernet franc. Drink from 2023.

The 2019 Tour de Pez has turned out to be an attractive, light-bodied Saint-Estèphe with pretty, lifted aromatics and fine overall balance. Red-toned fruit, flowers and mint build towards the nervous finish. This is certainly better than the barrel sample. Then again, that is a pretty low bar.

Medium-bodied, mid-weight, forward, and up-front, the 2019 Château Tour De Pez has a lighter ruby/purple color as well as attractive currant, sandalwood, and tobacco-like aromas and flavors. It's going to last for a decade.
