Château-Canon-La-Gaffelière St. Emilion 2010The vines, an average of 45 years old, are deeply rooted in the soil and absorb all the goodness in the terroir. They are mostly replaced individually rather than plot by plot (which maintains the average age). The last major replanting dates back to 1986. Mass selection is practised. This is especially useful in order to perpetuate the precious old Cabernet Franc vines. It not only maintains the vineyard's genetic heritage, but also its unique balance.
Jordan Winery Cabernet Sauvignon 2013Intense aromas of cassis, black currants, blackberries and ripe cherries with a lovely floral note. The palate is rich and seductive, with concentrated flavors of blackberries and cassis interwoven seamlessly with fine tannins from new French oak barrels. Its masculine structure is harnessed by a beautiful balance of acidity and dark fruits with a long, cassis-laced finish. A highly collectible vintage to be enjoyed now or cellared through 2032. Decant for 45 to 60 minutes to elevate aromas and flavors. Pairing: The 2013 Jordan Cabernet Sauvignon's dark fruits, rich palate and ne tannin structure make it a versatile companion at the table. Though a natural pairing for a avorful steak, this wine's balance of fruit, tannin and acidity beautifully complement grilled or roasted dishes, such as herb-crusted lamb, pork belly or rosemary chicken.
The Crane Assembly Disciples 2014Dark crimson in color, the strong, classic Zinfandel aromas of briar fruit and wild strawberries jump out of the glass and are complemented by hints of wet forest floor and high mountain forest. The entry gives way to a rich and textured mid palate of Mexican chocolate, brambly raspberry and a lengthy, caramelized crème Anglaise finish. This wine is a unique expression of old vine Zinfandel grown in the gravel-rich alluvial soils at the base of the Mayacamas mountain range.

Bodegas Muga Rioja Reserva Selección Especial 2011This is one of those vintages which is great to drink from the start without detracting in the least its potential for laying down for the future. These wines amaze you with their great flavour from the first sip, the seemingly precocious integration of the tannins, the freshness of their "Atlantic" features interwoven with the more mature "Mediterranean" character. If we look for the words to describe the wine we can come up with ripe fruit, without reaching the dried fruit stage, mainly small red berries and plums, followed by balsamic notes, especially mint and liquorice, and then, right at the end, hints of spices in the pepper, clove and vanilla range gently coming through. In retro-olfaction spices like tobacco and vanilla make a strong impression. Then, very subtle milky nuances evolve, followed by noble leather. All perfectly integrated in glorious harmony. A very pleasant mouth-feel with the sweetness of fine lees, pastries and soft, noble tannin.
